Micromachine 2000 et 3000

Little is known about these obscure french systems. The Micromachine 2000 could be used in mono or multi-user configuration.

There were followed by the 16-bit Micromachine 4000.

Please consider donating your old computer / videogame system to Old-Computers.com or one of our partners from anywhere in the world (Europe, America, Asia, etc.).

The Micromachine 2000 ran on a Z80A CPU @ 4 MHz and 64Kb RAM. The two 8" floppy disks could hold 500Kb of data each. An extra hard disk could be added, from 5 to 60(!)Mb. It displayed at 512x256 resolution compatible with the Tektronix 4010 terminals. Also, it could run CP/M, BASIC, COBOL, Fortran, Pascal, APL, or Assembler. A French advertisement also proclaims it is compatible with the IBM 3740/34 data entry systems.

Said advertisement also mentions WordStar and DataStar, which may have been included with the machine. At the bottom right, there is a section labeled "Soon...." presumably listing features to be added to the machine. It includes multiprocessing and 5 1/4-inch diskette drives.
