Genesis 3

Manufactured by Majesco under license by Sega, the Genesis 3 was a budget release of the Genesis hardware. Appearing in the United States in 1998, it was much smaller than previous versions and shipped with the six button controller included.

However, the Genesis 3 lacked the expansion port of the older models making it incompatible with the Sega CD add-ons. It was also incompatible with the 32X.

A number of games were also re-released by Majesco, who later re-released the Game Gear as well.

_________

Matt adds:
The Genesis 3 was compatible with most titles, only a small number of titles wouldn't work. The unit would also freeze if bumped.
