"Amaze your mouse by being the first to squeek by and puzzle your way out of the passages. Get set and go with the labyrinth of games in this Videocart cartridge."
This cartridge must be the first maze game available for a home video game system. It was itself largely inspired by the first maze arcade video game, Amazing Maze, released a year before.
Maze offers serval interesting variations around one basic principle: each maze is randomly generated by the Channel F and no two mazes will be alike. There is always a beginning and an end to each maze. Each player (mice in fact) must exit the maze first to win.
The variations are: - Maze: normal mode where players see the whole maze - Jailbreak: all you see is just a grid, you have to test each direction to reveal the maze step by step - Trailblazer: a bit like jailbreak, but here the whole maze is fully filled. You have to test and trace your own way - Blind-Man's Bluff: you see nothing and just here bump sounds when you hit a wall...
In addition to these variations there are some interesting options: - you can choose the speed of the game - you can add a "cat" chasing you, controled by the Channel F, - there is even a "paranoia" mode where one player can exit the maze (and win) only if the other has been eaten by the cat
Overall this is quite fun 2 player game, with many options which improve the pinciple of its arcade predecessor.
