The Casio FP-1000 and FP-1100 were essentially the same machine, except that the 1100 had colour capabilities, 48 KB VRAM and enhanced graphic mode (640 x 400).
The FP-1100 came with either a monochrome (green) monitor which would display colour as shades, or the colour monitor. The cable feeding the video to the monitor was a simple 2 core unsheilded RCA cable. The mono minitor had a switch at the back so that one could swap foreground and background (green on black or black on green)
Both the FP-1000 and FP-1100 had a built in OS called C82 BASIC. To run CP/M, you had to insert your systems diskette and reboot the computer, or if the program diskette had it's own boot strap, you could issue a "mount [1,2]" command where the number [1/2] indicated the diskette drive you wanted to use.
You could run multiple console sessions on the FP-1000/1100 toggling between them with the blue function keyboard keys that can be seen on the image. Some programs (eg SuperCalc) ussurped these keys and you were stuck in the console session until you stopped the program.
I owned a FP-1100 with several extensions from 1986 until 2006. Then it was recycled :-( But the compolete Systemsoftware and documentation is still available. Feel free to mail me for information about.

I still have an FP-1100 with dual floppy drive in perfect working condition. I was wondering if there was any known way to read back FP-1020FD floppies on a PC ? I have lots of software to share. Also, it would be nice to gather homemade software made by others. Since there is almost no information on this computer (also on FP-200 and 6000 by the way), I am projecting to create a website dedicated to these computers. I have all the user AND service manuals - I only must find the time to scan them :)

I sold several FP1000/1100 Casio´s in Angola. I developed for them a number of business aplications made in COBOL running under CP/M.. These machines were the more reliable I ever sold, owned and used in my life. Many years of intense work in harsh enviroments and NONE of the around 50 machienes I sold ever broke down...AND I can tell you that they REALLY worked hard.... AT the time the configuration I used used to have two 8 inch high density FDD....GREAT MACHINE .....
