    Posted: 29 March 2012 at 5:52am
I have an very old ICL 286 (8MHz) computer with, I believe, a MFM hard disk that altought working it doesn't boot.

The computer tells me to run setup but I don't know how to access it.

I've tried all the usual keys to no effect.

Does anyone know how to access the BIOS/ROM setup in these machines?

Hi Paulo,

ICL is now part of Fujitsu. I remember the DRS(Distributed Resource Systems) range being introduced around 25 years ago.

Try the fujitsu-siemens.com website, where there are a lot of user forums and maybe someone there can help.

With an old pc such as this, surely you can boot off a floppy dos boot disc. This will allow you to do some checks and/or access the hard disc.

Advise make and model of hard disc, as I thought they were ide.

Please advise back on progress.

Good Luck - Mike
