The Spellbinder page needs a complete rewrite as it is quite inaccurate.

John Bintz was the founder and President of Lexisoft, Inc. until 1988 when he sold the company, bought a motor-home and drove off into the sunset. He's alive and well, enjoying his nomadic retirement.

Spellbinder was written (in assembler for speed and size) by Perry Gee who joined John in 1978. It was first introduced as Autotype, but was renamed as Spellbinder when it was included as a ROM pak for the Exidy Sorcerer microcomputer.
