Are you a commercial or a non-profit organisation ?

We are a non-profit organisation. We don't earn anything with this Web Site. All the money we might earn with the library, the goodies or by any other way is used to maintain the web site and to save old computers. We (Olivier Boisseau, Thierry Schembri and Sylvain Bizoirre) work on the web site during our rest time.

Can I use pictures on my web site ?

All the photos / pictures on the web site are pictures or scans made by ourselves and thus, are our intellectual properties. These pictures are stamped with the "www.old-computers.com" logo. The pictures without this stamp or with a mention to an other web site *can't* be used in any way : we've got an authorization from the owner of these pictures to use them; if you want to use them, you have to contact directly the owners of these pictures.

Unfortunately, we had to change our policy about our own photos (stamped with the old-computers.com logo). Some people get our photos without permission, remove the stamp and act as the photos were theirs. Other people take the whole content of some pages to put them directly into their web site. The photos of this site are copyrighted and can't be used in any way. They can't be reproduced on any material. If you need photos for printing purpose, you can contact us to see how an arrangment can be possible. Otherwise usage of all content of this web site : articles or *PHOTOS* is stricly prohibited. Any person who will use content of this site without our agreement will be prosecuted.

Do you sell any items?

Actually, we trade only. However, if you want to buy a machine, and if you have nothing to trade, we can make an arrangement, but you have to know that this procedure must be exceptional. And remember: we do not own all the systems presented in the museum!

Do you buy any items?

As you can see in the "Donate" page, we prefer donations. We don't want to spend money for the old systems because shipping alone and repairs are very expensive. We can't afford to buy expensive old computers, so if you want to make money with your old stuff, you should have a look at Ebay's vintage computers section.

Do you get old computers from all over the world ?

We accept donations (no PC compatible please!) mainly from Europe and USA / Canada, but if you have an interesting computer that deserves preservation, we will be happy to receive it too. Of course, we pay shipping costs, and the further you are from us, the more shipping costs we will have to pay :-(

Why the web site doesn't work well with Netscape or Opera ?

Actually, the first versions of the site were designed to work well with both IE / Netscape browsers (and they worked with them). Unfortunately, it takes too much time to make the site compatible with Netscape. This browser has too many limitations. It is very painful and time-wasting to make a site compatible with this browser.
Instead of wasting our time with Netscape, we prefer add new features and make the site going ahead.
In our statistics, we have noticed that visitors who use Netscape represent less than 8% of the total visitors, so when the whole site will be finished, we will make it compatible with Netscape and Opera.

Why the pages are only in english ?

Because english is the only international language! Our main goal is to share old computers information with the most people possible. The logical solution is thus to write the site in english.

Where are you located ?

We are located in France (Western Europe). The web server is located in New-York.

Is it only a virtual museum ?

Yes, but we are planning to make it more 'real'...
And remember, we do not own every system presented in the on-line museum!
